Netflix試圖想從低價廣告訂閱方案吸取新訂戶，但成效不彰，反而繼續流失舊有用戶，也因此傳出明（2023）年真的要開抓「寄生帳號」，杜絕只想要「密碼共享」的用戶。

外媒報導，Netflix早已明白「密碼共享」的寄生帳號模式是影響利潤的一大問題，隨著今年營收下降和4月至7月間減少了百萬訂戶，遭遇10年來首遇訂戶流失的問題，只好祭出政策，如推出每月6.99美元（約台幣215元）低價廣告訂閱方案（Basic with Ads），試圖找回新訂戶。不過據串流訂閱分析公司Antenna數據顯示，11月美國地區該方案僅增加9%新訂戶，原有訂戶轉低價廣告方案者，更只有0.1%。

有推特網友表示，若被Netflix偵測到密碼共享的行為，如登入別人的帳號觀看影集，就會跳出警告訊息表示「需要使用自己的帳號」才能觀看。（翻攝自picture_play推特）
